Product Summary:

RSVP4U is a HIGHLY configurable Auto Responder System! Auto Responders are an ESSENTIAL part
of any online business that runs ecommerce, offer online support, provides customer support,
and/or has one or more email accounts to allow customers, potential customers, and others to
contact them via email. What an Auto Responder does is immediately notify the customer that
the email was actually received, assures them that you have forwarded it to the appropriate
personnel for processing and enables you to convey many important facts to them, e.g., other
online sources of information like FAQs, knowledge bases, and forums as well as to designate
a timeframe when you will be in touch with them. Basically it reassures the customer that
you care and you are trying to meet their needs!

This set of programs is designed to work with WINServer to allow you to set up and manage an
UNLIMITED number of Auto Responders! It allows your users who you may wish to sell, license, or
offer as part of a Web Site to control the SUBJECT, Message Text, Reply To Email Address, the
Forwarding address (optional), quote the original email's Subject and more! RSVP4U has 3 major
parts; The actual Auto Responder piece which runs either from the menu or via wcRun, a menu
based Control Center to define/configure accounts, and a web based portion for web
based changes by you or selected users!

Setup:
------

1. Unzip the zip file into a TEMP folder and run the SETUP.EXE

Be sure to provide all of the information requested especially the information needed to install
the program and the 7 fields that make up the main configuration file stored in \wc5\data\autoresp.dat
with the following 7 fields of information (Note, you can manually edit this file later using
    Notepad to change any fields):
1-Location of the Auto Response Folder, e.g., c:\wc5\autoresp
    2-System Administrator's Email Address
3-Time Interval to wait before checking for messages: Enter 1 for 1 minute, 5 for five minutes, etc. Max is 60.
4-Display Information Mode: 1 is verbose (DEFAULT) 2 is Silent Mode
5-Text to be displayed in ACTIVITY when running from the Menu (MAX 30 Characters)
6-The Auto Responder PUBLIC directory which is used to allow your OWNERS of the various Auto Responder Email accounts to change
the SUBJECT, TEXT, REPLY TO address, the Forwarding address, and the Quote Subject line Option; e.g., c:\wc5\http\public\rsvp4u
7-The Auto Responder PUBLIC URL which is used to allow your OWNERS of the various Auto Responder accounts
to change the SUBJECT, TEXT, REPLY TO address, the Forwarding address, and the Quote Subject line Option,
      e.g., www.yourdomain.com/public/rsvp4u

The program consists of two main pieces; an ANSI piece which is completely controlled by SYSOPs
and the PUBLIC web piece which allows a LIMITED number of people who know the Auto Responder USER ID
and PASSWORD, to access this information from the web. This is great for limited remote administration and to
grant users who purchase/lease/have access to Auto Responders that you run for them, so they
can change the Subject, Subject Quoting, Auto Responder Message text, optional forward to email
address and the optional Reply To email address (to prevent users from replying to your Auto
Responder email address). Changes made on the Web side are DYNAMIC so they are picked up on the
next cycle (time interval) that AutoResp runs!

2. Creating a Menu Option on the ANSI Side to AutoRespMenu (this is the HEART of the program):
Use wcMenu to create a menu item to run the AutoRespMenu.WCX for the ANSI side of your BBS. Please,
note you can rename the .wcx to any valid name as long as you specify that name in wcMenu
and when you rename the file you make sure to keep the .wcx extension. PLEASE NOTE, you should
restrict access to this menu option to SYSOPs ONLY (maybe even put on the SYSOP Menu).

3. To Allow Access to the individual Auto Responder accounts you will need to provide the limited number of users
with the link to the web based program, e.g., http://www.pcpursuits.com:81/public/code/html-AutoResp_Validate
(NOTE: you only need to change the "www.pcpursuits.com:81" portion). If you want you can put
a link on the customer's site (or yours) but it may attract curious Georges. You will also need
to provide them with the user ID and password that you used to set up the account! Note, this is OPTIONAL so eventhough
the software is in place, if you do NOT provide the link and you do NOT provide the User ID and password, then
this portion will only be known to YOU!

4. Optional set up and configuration:
Currently there is simply the ability to add a background image (rsvp4u.gif), backgound sound (rsvp4u.wav),
and background music (rsvp4u.mid). Nothing fancy to the web side since if will only be used on a
    very limited basis.

BASIC INFORMATION ON HOW THIS ALL WORKS!
----------------------------------------
There are four wcx programs that make up the Auto Responder system:
PART#1. AutoRespMenu: This is the heart of the system. You can create accounts, change accounts and delete accounts!
AND you can actually RUN the AutoResp "listener" account. Basically when you add an account it creates
a USER record in your WINServer data base to be used for sending and receiving email. Based on the Security
Profile you use and if you host multiple domains, you can actually set up MULTIPLE Auto Responders for multiple
domains simply by specifying the domain in the Security profile before assigning that profile to the Auto Responder
   account!

This program assumes that PRIOR to adding an Auto Responder setup on an account
that the following have been taken care and/or considered:
- You have verified that the user name is NOT already in use since you are
about to create a NEW account for that name. You can NOT set up an Auto Responder
on an existing User ID in your current WINServer data base!
- That you NEVER set the Auto Responder account under wcConfig/Networking/Auto
Response tab to send auto responses via WINServer (this is obvious SO just
DON'T do it)! You can use WINServer Auto Responders, BUT not on USER IDs in use
  with this program!
- The Name on the account is recommended to be a single word name but if not
then when addressing mail to this Auto Responder, make sure to instruct your
users to put it in the form 'first.last@yourdomain.com'. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES
should the name contain ANY characters other than alpha and numeric, therefore
NO PERIORDS in the Auto Responder Name and NO ~!@#$%^&*()_-+=:;"<,>.'?/|\}{[]
- The account MUST not be set up with an alias in the Translation tables under
wcConfig/Networking/Hosts under the Translation Tables tab.
- If you run multiple domains, make sure that the domain name is setup properly
under the user account by selecting the correct Security Profiles defined for
  each Domain.
- Note, for security purposes, this system will not allow you to use an account
where the password is either NULL or SPACES!
- When asked to enter the name of the security profile make sure you enter it
in with the exact CASE as used in the profile since it is Case SeNsItIvE...

There are EIGHT fields to INPUT:

1. Account Name (same as a WINServer name, in fact, this program ADDS a User record to the WINServer User database)
2. Password (same as a WINServer password and is stored in the WINServer User Database)
3. Security Profile based on the actual ones you have defined in WINServer and it is case sensitive!
4. SUBJECT line for the Auto Response email that will be sent on the Auto Respond message:
The Subject should be informative and no more than 55 characters!
If you wish to use the Quote Subject Option then keep this one short!
The Quote Subject Option is next and will put this subject followed by
the original message subject in quotes,
e.g., This is an Auto Reply to 'Text of the Users Original Subject'
5. Subject Quoting switch as described above Can only be Y or N
6. (OPTIONAL) Email Address to forward the original message to:
This option allows you to optional forward a message to another address BUT
DO NOT FORWARD to the Auto Responder address or you WILL CREATE A NASTY LOOP!
Please note that this option can NOT to validated by this program so you MUST
test this PRIOR to putting this Auto Responder into Production Usage!
7. (OPTIONAL, BUT RECOMMENDED) REPLY TO Email Address:
This option allows you to specify the email address where replies to your
Auto Responder will be sent. In general, the text of your message should
encourage the user to NOT reply to the message but if they (and sometimes they will)
so if they reply to your Auto Response then this will let you direct where it will
be sent to! By default replies will be set to the System Administrator's
account. It is HIGHLY recommended that you do NOT set this to
the Auto Responder email address! Test this PRIOR to putting this Auto Responder into Production Usage!
8. The Message Body:
It is important to use the message body to explain that it is automated response, the reason why
you are sending the automated response, a possible expected turnaround time, a follow-up email
address, and maybe even links to FAQs and/or web pages for additional help. Here is a sample:

This is an Automated Response to your recent email sent to
Responder@pcpursuits.com. There is no need to respond to this email.
This message is being sent to you to let you know that your message was
received and has been forwarded to the appropriate personnel for immediate
action! A member of our staff should be in contact with you shortly and
usually within 24 hours or the next business day. Thank you for taking
the time to contact us. We appreciate your business!

PART #2. AutoResp: This is the program that actually polls for messages. The above program creates a data
base of Auto Responder accounts. This program monitors those accounts at the given time interval specified,
and takes appropriate action on incoming messages to Auto Respond, forward, change the reply to, etc.
This program can be run in 3 separate ways:
- From The Auto Responder Menu program but this will require you to sign on using wcLocal to activate
the program using the R option and will remain on all the time.
- Using wcRun which can be run using wcEvent or BapStats Event and let it run continuously in a DOS
command prompt (and YES it works perfectly under NT and Windows 2000)!
- Using wcRun which can be run using wcEvent or BapStats Event to run it at some periodic cycle
so as to not tie up system resources BUT since it actually doesn't require more than 2200K that
may not pose too much of a drain on most systems.

Note, these 3 fields as entered during setup and contained in the wc5\data\autoresp.dat file are used
by this program and can be changed my manually editing the file:
-Time Interval to wait before checking for messages: Enter 1 for 1 minute, 5 for five minutes, etc.
-Display Information Mode: 1 is verbose (DEFAULT) 2 is Silent Mode
-Text to be displayed in ACTIVITY when running from the Menu (MAX 30 Characters)

PART #3. html-AutoResp_Validate: This is the web validation program which MUST be manually linked to (not set
up by this program and generally shouldn't receive heavy use). This requires you or one of your
customers to enter the UserID and password of the Auto Responder that they wish to edit. The link
to this field is http://www.pcpursuits.com:81/public/code/html-AutoResp_Validate on my system (obviously
you will need to change the www.pcpursuits.com:81 portion of the above link).
PART #4. html-AutoResp_Update: This is the actual WEB update program and it MUST not be linked to (because it
doesn't work if you do). The program, html-AutoResp_Validate, will automatically send you to a temporary
link where you can update all fields except the User ID and Password!
